My most proud client success story!
I am proud of all my clients I have trained over the nearly 25 years I have been a trainer and coach as well as all my current clients (general fitness clients as well as athletes). I am proud of all their hard work and dedication and the results they have achieved.
I can't think of another client I am prouder of than John Fiske. I met John about 20 years ago. John didn't have a big fitness background. He wanted to lose some weight, build some muscle, gain strength and get in good shape. I trained John on and off over the years and he had periods where he lost a significant amount of weight only to regain it back (sounds like someone I know named Dan who used to be like that when he was younger). Like me, John went up and down with his weight.
In 2018 John faced the biggest challenge of his life. He was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer that was also in his lungs and brain. His prognosis was he had an 8% chance to live another 5 years. John battled it as bravely and courageously as anyone could. He finally beat it by beating all the odds which was nothing short of absolutely amazing.
Over the past 2 years he has decided to take off the weight and fat slowly by doing it the right way (not the wrong way he and I both used to do by losing it so fast we would regain it back). Over the course of the past 2 years, he has lost nearly 80 lbs and this time set himself up for long term, sustainable success. When you factor his age, 64, it makes it all the more remarkable. He is cancer free and in the best shape of his life and is the strongest, most fit, 64-year-old I know, and I couldn't be prouder of him.

There are so many things that make what John has accomplished so impressive, and one is that he travels a lot. He could easily let that get in the way and fall off completely with his diet and training, but he continues to stay with it. When he is back in town, he is right back at it. Health and fitness have just become a way of life for him, and he even tells me that when he
goes more than a few days without working out, he feels guilty and like he needs to get in the gym and train.
What I am most proud of though with John is the friendship we have developed and have had for nearly 20 years now. John is as good of a person as you will ever meet. No one deserves the success he has achieved more than him. I look forward to continuing to work with him and see him to continue to progress because I know he has even more left in him.
