Hamstring training

Often times when training the hamstrings people in the gym only train them doing leg curls (as seen in this pic). By doing so they are only working them one way, knee flexion. The hamstrings have 2 functions. They flex the knee and they extend the hip. If you want to develop the hamstrings and have them grow you have to train them both ways. Knee flexion exercises like seated leg curls, lying leg curls and standing single leg curls you would want to train with heavier weight and lower reps. The hamstrings are composed of mainly fast twitch muscle fibers which respond best to lower reps. Hip extension exercises like Romanian dead lifts, good mornings and the reverse hyper work not just the hamstrings but the glutes and erector spinae muscles of the lower back. The glutes and erector tend to be composed of more slow twitch muscle fibers which respond better to higher reps. So you would want to train any hip extension exercises in a higher rep range. #trainingđź’Ş #gym #exercise #bodybuilding #strengthtraining #workout #workoutroutine #hamstrings #hamstringworkout #hamstringsworkout #deadlift #legworkout #legroutine #hamstringroutine #lasvegas #glutes #reps #muscle #legcurls #hipextension #deadlifts #personaltrainer #lasvegaspersonaltrainer #gymtrainer #fitnesstrainer #strengthcoach
