When I was set to update some of my fitness photos back in 2011 I took some pics along the way to monitor my progress. People always ask how long it took. In the first few pics I was working to lean out but I wasn’t going all out. I was taking it slow and being good with my nutrition and training but not super strict. Towards the last half of these pics as I got closer to where I wanted to be I got locked in and super focused. Whenever I get like that with any goal I get tunnel vision and no amount of road blocks will stop me from getting to where I want to be (I wish I could get like that all the time).
Unfortunately I have other before and after pics from years ago. I was always able to get myself in really good shape but I tended to yo yo back and forth. Some of it was lack of focus and motivation, some of it when I was younger was over dieting and over training and then I’d binge after dieting down. Some of it too was I looked up to pro bodybuilders when I was younger and saw guys blow up, put on some layers of fat and gain a ton of weight in the off season like Lee Priest and thought that was the way you do it. I thought you diet down for competition or for the summer and then in the off season and in the winter you try to gain weight and eat a bunch to try to put on more muscle.
Fortunately for me no more before and after pics as I got to the point years ago where I really understand my body and what I need to do to stay in the shape I want to be in. I understood what I needed to do before but I didn’t always follow it and didn’t always listen to my body. Anyway, I just wanted to share these and hopefully people see these and realize what is possible.
