If an exercise looks stupid, unsafe and ineffective it probably is. You could go in any gym anywhere in the world and you would probably see at least one person, or more, doing some ridiculous exercise trying to be cutting edge, innovative and different. These ridiculous exercises tend to revolve around using some type of instability training with a bosu ball or physio ball or another unstable piece of exercise equipment. You can usually see them pretty easily as they tend to stick out, even to the novice, untrained eye. These type of exercises belong in the circus next to the guy that blows fire and the contortionist. They don’t belong in the gym and in your training program. Build your program around the traditional, strength training exercises and work to get better at those. Save the other stuff for the circus.
