Doing chin ups/pulls ups in proper form

One thing to keep in mind anytime doing chin ups and pull ups is to keep your hips from swinging forward. I see many people swinging their hips forward using their hip flexors to help propel them up. It is so bad sometimes I wonder what exercise they are actually doing. Doing this takes the tension off the working muscles and takes away from the effectiveness of the exercise. When I’ve had clients start to do this in workouts one of the things I’ve used to force them to correct this is make them hold a physio ball behind their legs while doing chin ups or pull ups (can’t remember who I learned it from). This makes it impossible to thrust the hips forward and takes them out of the movement.
