All calories are not created equal

Updated: Jul 7, 2019

The old thought of cutting calories, especially significantly, to lose body fat is a no win proposition and almost always results in muscle loss as well as fat and weight regain. It’s not as simple as calories in vs calories out. Every calorie is different and has different effects on the body. Calorie counting doesn’t account for thermogenic effect of food (amount of calories burned during digestion), the hormonal effect of food, effect of fiber and macro nutrients being metabolized different. For example, 150 calories in a can of soda will have a much different effect on the body then 150 calories in a piece of salmon. The soda will spike your insulin and send you into a fat storing zone while the salmon, rich in protein, will be broken down slowly, stabilizing blood sugar and triggering a slow release of insulin and support fat burning. 2 foods with the same calories and 2 totally different effects on the body. #fitness #calories #diet #nutrition #fatloss #fatlosstips #fatlosstip #health #muscle #weightloss #insulin #lasvegas #personaltrainer #fitnesstrainer #gymtrainer #lasvegaspersonaltrainer #strengthcoach
