A simple food tip for greater fat loss

Anyone who knows me knows how big I am on fiber. It has many good health benefits, especially for fat loss. Unfortunately, some studies estimate only 10 % of Americans get the recommended daily intake of fiber with some research suggesting the average American diet only gets 5 to 10 grams of fiber a day. This falls way below the recommended 25 to 38 grams a day for adults.

One of the simplest things I do with clients looking to lose body fat is increase their fiber intake.

Even with a clean diet though I often notice some clients having a hard time still getting enough fiber in their diet. One of the foods I like to use in cooking to add in extra fiber is coconut🥥 flour. In just one serving of (2 tbsp) it has 6 grams of fiber with only 3 net carbs so it is great for low carb diets. It is mild tasting so it can be added to almost any food. I like to use it to make my chicken breasts. I use an egg, some seasonings and sometimes some grated parmesan cheese for extra flavor.

As Nutrition expert Dr. Jonny Bowden says about fiber “It’s not expensive, it’s not sexy, but it works like a charm. It’s plain old-fashioned fiber. “Fiber is your friend” is a saying I’ve used with my clients for years. On top of the many overall health benefits (helps digestion, supports proper gut health, helps lower blood lipids, etc) fiber is very beneficial for fat loss. Fiber helps fat loss in many ways including stabilizing your blood sugar and slowing your release of insulin, giving you a feeling of fullness and sweeping away some of the fat in the food you eat basically eliminating calories from your body.

As one of my football players 🏈 JQ said to me after I started having him increase his fiber intake and using a fiber supplement for fat loss, “Coach, that fiber works man!”
