45 degree hops for athletic performance

45 degree hops. 1️⃣ We do these in different progressions starting with just focusing on hopping and landing correctly by sticking the landing. 2️⃣ We progress up to more explosive hops as seen here where we minimize ground contact time. 3️⃣ This takes advantage of what’s called elastic energy which is stored in the muscles and tendons and is tapped into when a rapid stretch of a muscle followed by an immediate contraction of that same muscle or muscles. This helps augment explosive power. Minimizing ground contact time is important to tap into elastic energy because elastic energy quickly dissipates the longer your ground contact time. 4️⃣ Doing plyometrics this way also helps with explosive power by utilizing the myotatic stretch reflex which is a reflexive shortening contraction of the muscles resulting from a rapid stretch of the muscles.
