...Where in Las Vegas do you train your clients?
I train my clients out Bodysport Performance Training Center, a state of the art facility located on the northwest side of Las Vegas, Nevada right off highway 95 and Lake Mead BLVD. facility is outfitted with some of the best strength training equipment in the industry, geared towards beginners and professional athletes alike. It is only open to clients working with a personal trainer. I believe that training my clients in a private facility truly defines the term "personal training."
...Do you offer in home personal training?
Yes! One of the services I offer is in-home personal training. In-home personal training is for clients that prefer to work out in the comfort of their own home. Keep in mind, to be trained at home by me, you don't need to have your own private gym! Please contact me for more information.
...Can you train me at my gym?
Yes, but you will need to check if your gym allows outside trainers to train people at their gym. Some gyms don't allow that. It depends on the gym.
Is there a membership fee to train with you at your gym?
There is a $49 dollar fee to use the gym that covers the entire year. It breaks down to around $4 a month. This is a big incentive for many clients, because to work with a trainer at most gyms or clubs in town you have to sign up for a long term membership and pay a large monthly fee each month for your membership before having access to personal trainers on top of the fees for the personal training.
...What type of clients do you train?
I have a wide variety of clients. My clientele varies from young children all the way up to senior citizens. It doesn’t matter your profession, level of experience or fitness level. I train clients from beginners just looking to improve their health and fitness level, to advanced athletes looking to excel in their specific sport and increase their performance. I have clients who are seeking just general fitness and health and just want to feel better and look a little better as well as clients who have lofty goals and really want to completely transform their body and their health. I welcome all clients and work with all people no matter their goals or fitness level.
What are your credentials?
I have my bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois. I have completed course work in graduate school in Exercise Physiology at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). I have been personal training since 1998 and started my own personal training business in 2000 that began in Las Vegas. I have held various certifications through the years including personal training certifications by AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) and the IFPA (International Fitness Professionals Association). I currently hold national certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT, NASM), and as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS, NSCA) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I have a level 1 Performance Specialist Certification from the Poliquin Institute, as well as being CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified through the American Heart Association.
It's important to share that personal training certifications don't express the level of quality nor competency for the certificate holder. The industry is unregulated with over 200 different personal training certifications available. It is embarrassing how easy it is to obtain a personal training certification and because of that there is widespread unqualified personal trainers in the profession. For example: there are internet-based trainer certifications anyone can take in 30 minutes that cost $70, consists of 40 multiple choice questions, with 20 correct answers (50%) being a passing score. While I have a long list of qualifications, I have taken pride in staying focused on deepening my experience, knowdlege, education and I am always striving to improve and insisting on successful client relationships. I share this extra context about qualifications so you can be better informed to find the right fit. Hopefully one day the industry will be regulated and a rigorous national or state board exam will be put in place for personal trainers. ...How often do I need to train?
It all depends and is based on different factors including each individual person's goals, body type, health, level of experience, etc. For the majority of my clients, goals strength training 3 to 4 times a week is commonly optimal. My cardiovascular exercise recommendations can vary significantly client by client. I never have clients doing long duration, low intensity, steady state aerobics. I prefer to have my clients complete high intensity, short duration, interval training that tends to be more anaerobic. This approach is much more beneficial for fat loss for a variety of reasons. Once again though exercise recommendations will vary from person to person. A lot of variables in training are highly individualized.
...How long will it take to get results?
That depends, it depends on a lot of different variables such as genetics, goals, fitness level, and most importantly, how hard you want to work! The more dedicated a client is, the quicker and better the results will be. This means dedication to all aspects of fitness, including weight training, cardiovascular exercise, and perhaps most important... nutrition!
I cover all aspects of fitness in my personal training programs and most peoples goals are very reasonable as long as they follow the guidelines and principles I lay out. I have helped people make amazing body transformations in as short as 3 months. For others, it may take 6 months, a year, or maybe longer.
